5 Arrested in Ohio Bridge Bomb Plot

Five people are under arrest for allegedly plotting to blow up a bridge in the Cleveland area. The FBI identifies the five individuals as self-described anarchists, aged from 20 to 35.

ANTHONY, FBI SPECIAL AGENT IN CHARGE, CLEVELAND][Notes:CLEVELAND/MAY 1]last night the co-conspirators placed the two IEDs at the base of the concrete support pillars of the Brecksville Northfield High Level Bridge. And attempted to detonate these devices from a remote location that they deemed safe and that would give them an alabi.[/:STEVEN DETTELBACH/U.S. ATTORNEY, NORTHERN DISTRICT OF OHIO]The public was never in any danger. The defendants never possessed at any time any explosive material and their arrest warrants were signed before they got in the car to head to the bridge. The complaint in this case alleges that the defendants had defined actions to further a terrorist plan and make no mistake about it, it was their plan. The defendants chose the target thtat they wished to destroy. The defendants went to the bridge to do recon. The defendants went to a hotel room to purchase what they thought were C4 plastic explosives. The defendants went top the bridge last night. The defendants planted the explosives at the base of the bridge. The defendantants planted the explosives. The defendants went to a remote site and they then sitting there, entered the codes that they thought would blow up a bridge with innocent people travelling over it. The FBI and the Department of Justice are not conducting an investigation of any group, but the individuals in this case are five anarchists and there are five anarchists that are charged.(****END****)
