Rebels run for cover in the embattled city of Aleppo. Scenes like this are commonplace in Syria, where an 18-month conflict has left 30,000 dead - and shows no sign of ending. On Friday at the United Nations, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton blamed Iran for prolonging the violence. She accused Tehran of supplying troops and arms to the Assad regime. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE, HILLARY CLINTON, SAYING: "There is no longer any doubt that Tehran will do whatever it takes to protect its proxy and crony in Damascus." Meanwhile, Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov dismissed calls for military intervention, saying it would be counter-productive. Russia and the U.S. remain at an impasse over the crisis in Syria, with Moscow vetoing three UN resolutions that would have stepped up pressure on Damascus, its long-time ally.
