Daylight Reveals Sandy's Wrath

Americans woke to scenes of destruction wrought by monster storm Sandy after it smashed into the eastern United States, cutting power to swathes of the nation's most densely populated region, swamping New York's subway system and submerging streets in Manhattan's financial district.

The morning after -- high waters all along the east coast -- A 14 foot storm surge flooded New York City's battery Park and soaked the financial district. Following a night that saw trailer homes tossed around in New Jersey and damage to Atlantic City's famed boardwalk. The monster storm also wreaked havoc on the beachtown of Point Pleasant washing sludge and sand all over. Sandy's fury was also felt in Washington D.C. where fierce winds uprooted massive Oak trees blocking roads and cutting off power to parts of the city and in some cases, leaving locals completely exposed to the elements. Others negotiated soggy streets as they went about their daily routines. While Sandy weakened as she made landfall, many expect it could takes days before power is restored to the estimated 8 million homes left in the dark.
