Twelve hundred people were injured by the shockwave created when the space rock exploded a few dozen kilometers above Earth. *** Experts from the Russian Academy of Sciences say they've found particles from the meteor around a frozen lake near the town of Chebarkul. A large crater was found there after the meteor hit with the force of 30 of the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima during the Second World War. While inspecting some unusual rocks, scientists say they found particles of meteorite, containing about ten per cent iron. On Friday morning, fireballs were seen streaking through the sky in the Chelyabinsk region. The meteor's shockwave blew out the windows of nearly 5,000 buildings -- hundreds of people were injured by the broken glass. Russian space debris hunters have posted adverts online, offering up to300,000 rubles, or 10,000 US dollars, for an authentic piece of meteor.
