German rock star Herbert Groenemeyer makes his American debut. Groenemeyer is Germany's largest selling rock artist with more than 18 million albums sold - and now he has his sights set on the United States. SOUNDBITE: Herbert Groenemeyer, signer, saying (German): "We have always dreamt of coming to the United States. And both occasion, in Chicago and here in New York there were German Americans and there was the question of 'how much do you sing in German.' And I hope that we got the right mix because it was purely experimental. The direction was very experimental." Groenemeyer began his musical career in 1979, and has released 14 studio albums to date. When asked why he chose to release a U.S. album now, he says it seemed like the right challenge. SOUNDBITE: Herbert Groenemeyer, signer, saying (English): "You are a self employed artist so you always have to find challenges to refresh your brain that you don't' fall asleep, that you don't' fall into a routine. And this is one of those where you really try to get back to the way where you came from, just approaching people that might never have heard of you. And convince them by the music, rather than being in these tracks you did for 30 years and everything has been pre done." His new CD "I Walk" features 13 tracks and is an album about love, loss and survival based on Groenemeyer's own experiences. He wrote the lead single "Mensch" after a personal tragedy and performs the song with U2 front man Bono. "I Walk" was released in the U.S. on February 26th.
