Valuable auction items fail to sell

In an eclectic offering, Harry Potter artwork, Princess Diana's dress, and a certificate signed by Adolf Hitler all fail to find buyers at auction in Los Angeles. Tara Cleary reports.

A dress worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, original "Harry Potter" illustrations and a letter signed by Adolf Hitler - all expected to fetch thousands of dollars each at auction - passed without sale. SOUNDBITE: Nate D. Sanders, saying (English): "This document is one of the earliest signed documents that you can find on Hitler, and also, what's interesting about it is in the World War II documents, he signed all the documents 'Hitler,' this one he actually signed with his full name, 'Adolf Hitler'." The items were part of an on-line sale by auction house Nate D. Sanders which ended on March 27th. One of the highest priced items was this dress worn by Princess Diana which was expected to sell for $75,000 U.S. dollars. SOUNDBITE: Nate D. Sanders, saying (English): "Princess Diana dress is very rare, there is only a few dresses that Princess Diana put up for charity at Christie's in the 1990s, this one was done by Zandra Rhodes, and it originally had sold, back in the 1990s, for 48,000 pounds." One valuable lot that did sell was Winston Churchill's original letter of resignation as British prime minister in 1955, fetching $12,500 U.S. dollars.
