Mr. January … Mr. February … Ms. March … Hang on! MS. March? New York City Fire Department's famed calendar features a female firefighter for the very first time. Danae Mines has worked for the FDNY for 14 years. SOUNDBITE: Danae Mines, FDNY employee, saying (English): "I think it's great. I would love to inspire other women to come on the job.I hope seeing my picture in the calendar inspires women to come on the job." Mines works in The Bronx and is one of only 41 female firefighters in the department. Fellow calendar model, firefighter and Mr. December, John Kilian is thrilled about Mines' appearance. SOUNDBITE: John Kilian, FDNY, saying (English): "It's fantastic. I'm proud of her. I'm proud of everybody that was able to put this together. It's great." The calendar features 13 firefighters and is on sale for $15 U.S. dollars with proceeds going to the FDNY Foundation.
